Hyperspecific Studio Storage

PROJECT 1 - DESIGN, INNOVATION & SOCIETY STUDIO II This project challenged us to create a design (or redesign) of an object for use in the DIS Studio. The Studio is the central creative space for students enrolled in this major and is always in the same location for each generation of DIS cohorts.

the problem

When analyzing our user base and their requirements, we created a problem statement in the form of a question:

How can we help keep the studio organized for DIS
students in a self-promoting way that retains the essence of the studio workflow?

Hyperspecific cut outs constrain users into putting the correct object into the correct slot. Bright colors are used to show when an object is obviously missing.

The solution

The Hyperspecific Studio Storage is a modular panel made to store the unique tools of our beloved studio. It's built to promote organization through specialized cutouts made for specific tools found in the studio that do not fit the standard organization spaces.

The back is removable from the front to allow for modularity of the tool cutout panel.

A French cleat is utilized to change the front panel with ease and create a design easy to replicate for future students.
